In what industries is branding not important?

Branding can be an emotional value attached to companies hence, its difficult to gauge when branding is unimportant. Typically in commoditized businesses, branding plays less of a role. Industries where differentiation of products is low, branding tends to be low too. Imagine business that supply printed paper, raw materials, mass produced items etc.
