Switching costs refer to the costs a customer incurs from changing suppliers or products. Costs are largely quantifiable in terms of money but there can also be psychological and 'time-based' costs incurred with switching. Examples of switching costs include high fees charged fro trying to switch out of a telephone service in order to discourage customers from doing so.
