A service is perishable in two respects:

* the resources, processes, and systems assigned for service delivery are only for a finite period.  For example, a gift card or coupon; if it is not redeemed, then the service or good cannot be utilized
* a service is totally consumed by the requesting customer, thus that service has perished since it has already been utilized
